Setting Up and Maintaining the SOCS Calendar

Modified on Fri, 24 Jan at 12:47 PM

We recommend that you consider this important information about the initial setup of your SOCS Calendar when you are getting started.

Before adding events to the calendar, consider the overall structure of your calendar.  SOCS allows you to pin events to schools Divisions and also Categories.  More information about this can be found below:

Calendar Divisions

Decide if you would like overarching calendar divisions to be added to your calendar. These add an extra layer of filtering to your school calendar.

More information about calendar divisions can be found here.

Calendar Categories

Decide upon and create your calendar categories. Categories can be of your choosing such as: Academic, Parent's Evenings, Trips, Sixth Form, Term Dates..

More information about calendar categories can be found here

Important note for schools using SOCS Sport and SOCS Co-curricular alongside SOCS Calendar:

To prevent duplicate data on your calendar do not create separate categories or events for sport and co-curricular activities. The SOCS modules are fully integrated.

Adding content for the first time to your SOCS Calendar

If your school is new to SOCS and you are in the process of launching the calendar, then there are two ways to get started.

Option 1

You can use the SOCS control panel to build your calendar data by adding single or recurring events using the single or recurring event editor. An event can be added to a single or to multiple categories. For example, an event can be created and added to the "Parent" and "Open Day" categories.

More information about adding events can be found here.

Option 2

You migrate from an existing calendar, using a template that we provide and then upload for you. You then revert to option 1 above and retire the old calendar. Please note, one bulk calendar upload is included in the setup of SOCS Calendar.

More information about adding events can be found here.
