Music Teacher User Levels and Types Explained

There are three user types for SOCS Music and these are called:

  1. Main User 
  2. Normal User 
  3. Registers User

These user types have varying access, visibility and permissions within the SOCS Music module. 


The information below explains what these three different user types can access and view in different areas of the SOCS Music module.


Music Calendar

Main Users: 

Can view all lessons, filtered by date range, instrument, teacher and pupil. Can edit and delete lessons and view and edit lesson registers.


Normal Users:

Can see their own lessons and filter by their own group of pupils. Can edit and delete their own lessons and can take registers.


Registers Users:

Can view their own lessons and filter by their own group of pupils. Can take their registers.


Lesson Scheduler

Main Users:

Can select any teacher and pupil to view the timetables, sport, co-curricular events and music lessons. Lessons can be added to the teacher and pupil’s schedule as single lessons, weekly lessons or on a rotation.


Normal Users:

Normal users can use the scheduler for their own group of pupils only.


Registers Users: 

Do not have access to the scheduler.


Pupil List

Main Users: 

View the list of all pupils with the ability to search by name, or filter by year group, house, form, music teacher or instrument. For each pupil the main user can:

  • View their full calendar
  • View their “Music Profile” which includes of their music information.
  • View and edit their instruments, including any instrument loans.
  • View and edit their music teachers.
  • View and edit any extra charges incurred by the pupil.


Normal Users:

Do not have access to the Pupil list.


Register Users:

Do not have access to the Pupil List


Music Teachers

Main Users:

View the list of all staff with the ability to view “Music Teachers” only or search for staff by surname.

For each staff member the main user can:

  • View their “Music Profile” which includes of their music information.
  • View their full calendar
  • View and edit the music “sessions” offered by the teacher.
  • View and edit the teacher‘s group of pupils for music lessons.


Normal Users:

Do not have access to the Music Teachers.


Register Users:

Do not have access to the Music Teachers.


Instruments

Main Users:

View and edit the list of instruments offered for lessons at the schools. For each instrument a list of actual items can be added to the “Inventory”. Items in the inventory can be loaned to pupils via the pupil list.


Normal Users:

Do not have access to Instruments.


Register Users:

Do not have access to Instruments.


Reports

Main Users:

View Music reports including attendance, billing, clashes and weekly overviews.


Normal Users:

Do not have access to Reports.


Register Users:

Do not have access to Reports.


Settings

Main Users:

View all settings necessary for the music module. These include:

  • Term Dates
  • Ensuring Music Teachers are included in the Staff List
  • Music rooms and locations for lessons.
  • The instruments offered by the school for lessons.
  • The sessions offered by music teachers included duration and cost.
  • Add pupils to their teachers and instruments to pupils
  • Protected time blocks where lessons should not be scheduled.
  • Access to SOCS for music teachers.


Normal Users:

Do not have access to Settings.


Register Users:

Do not have access to Settings.
