Scheduling Rotating Music Lessons and Creating a Template Week

Modified on Thu, 30 Jan at 4:37 PM

To ensure pupils do not miss the same academic subjects each week, you can set up a lesson rotation. This guide will walk you through the steps to create and save a lesson rotation.

Before scheduling a rotating music lesson, a single music lesson must be added to the scheduler (see Step 4 below and the detailed guide here).

Step 1

Login to SOCS Music

Step 2

Select Lesson Scheduler in the left-hand menu

Step 3

Select the correct term, teacher and pupil from the dropdown menus

Step 4 - Schedule Lessons for Week 1

  • Navigate to the first week of the rotation.
  • Schedule single lessons for each pupil involved in the rotation, as described in the previous guide here.
  • The first week will serve as the template for the rotation.

Step 5 - Create the Rotation

  • From the grey filters bar at the top, select “Create Rotation” from the Select Pupil dropdown.
  • This will open the rotation setup screen, displaying the Music teacher's schedule and the lessons scheduled for week 1 (in purple).

Step 6 -  Add or Remove Slots

  • To add a new slot, click on an empty area of the timetable.
  • To remove a slot, click on an existing one, and it will disappear.
  • To exclude a pupil’s lesson from the rotation, click on the purple lesson. It will turn grey, indicating it’s excluded from the rotation.

Step 7 - Review Selected Timeslots

  • On the right side of the screen, the grey section shows the selected timeslots that will be used for the rotation.
  • These slots will be rotated each week, but lesson details such as duration and costs will remain unchanged.

Step 8 - Finalize the Rotation

  • Once satisfied with the slots, click the “Continue” button at the bottom right.
  • Review the rotation details with the lesson slots on the left.
  • Select the weeks to which lessons will be added (each lesson rotates to a new slot each week).
  • Click the orange “Save Rotation” button to finalize the process. The lessons will be added, with each lesson rotating to a different slot every week.
